GIRTH GEAR AND PINIONS DIAGNOSIS AND INSTALLATION; BELONG TO CEMENT KILNS AND BALL MILLS

  • Description:
Horizontal rotating mills and kilns are often under challenging operating conditions. As a result, main gears failures can often occur.

    Our service includes:
    Evaluating of tooth failure.
    Measuring residual tooth thickness.
Assisting during non-destructive test. Checking girth gear axial (out of true) and radial run-out (out of round).
Measuring of backlash and bottom clearance of the gear pair.
Checking temperature difference across the face width of the gear pair.

Concerning to axial and radial run out deviation, we use different methods, including dial gauges and non-contact multi-probe devices. Those methods were specifically developed for checking girth gear condition under operation or during shutdown periods. Excessive radial run-out speed up wear process by shortening the length of the path of contact. Excessive axial run-out increase the risk of cracking due to located tooth contact at this ends axial and radial runout of girth gears with high accuracy and in a short period.

    Objetives:

To perform fastest diagnosis, including mounting parameter verifications.
To adjust the gears for the proper tooth contact and backlash.
